Hi, I’m Sarah. I am passionate about the hair industry. I love cutting hair, educating others and I love my fellow hairstylists. I am so glad to have you on this journey with me.
I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years and educating for 6 years. I started my education in NYC at the Aveda Institute and apprenticed at the Arrojo Studio in Soho. After many years of experience, continuing education, and lots of experimenting - I fell in love with the magic of straight razor cutting and found my calling. I founded Hair by Sarah Beck to embark on this new journey of providing independent education and sharing my passion for and knowledge of the razor.
Whether it’s an introduction, advanced, or a customized class for your needs, I have several options: one-on-one or intimate classes, look and learn or hands-on, in-person or virtual. Currently, you can find me offering transformation haircuts at Ladybird, a beautiful salon and styling space in the Crossroads of KC. Transformation haircuts are a deeper experience than just a haircut, it’s a way to let go of the old, of what no longer serves you, to make space in your life for new growth.
My goal is to empower hairstylists to have a balanced relationship with their career and to elevate from within, all while cultivating a like-minded community of support.
After years of feeling overwhelmed in the industry, and deep conversations with colleagues and hair friends, I understood that I wasn’t alone in feeling emotionally drained at the end of the day. I realized that we are therapists with no therapy training. And so The Balanced Hairstylist was born. I hope you’ll join me either monthly or for a pop in to see what all the joy is about.
